Exams and Vaccinations

Annual canine and feline vaccines and six-month canine vaccines are offered daily.

Canine

Canine annual visits include a comprehensive examination by one of our veterinarians, including a detailed check of skin, nose, mouth, eyes, ears, lymph nodes, heart and lung sounds, abdominal palpation, fleas, and overall coat condition. Annual canine vaccines include DHLPP, rabies, bordetella (kennel cough vaccine), heartworm check (done in-house), and a fecal examination to check for intestinal parasites. We also encourage a six-month checkup for your dog which includes a parvo vaccine booster, a fecal check for intestinal parasites, and a comprehensive exam.

Feline

Feline annual visits include a comprehensive examination by one of our veterinarians, including a detailed check of skin, nose, mouth, eyes, ears, lymph nodes, heart and lung sounds, abdominal palpation, fleas, and overall coat condition. Annual feline vaccinations include FVRCP, rabies (Purevax),feline leukemia, and a fecal examination to check for intestinal parasites. We also offer in-house feline leukemia testing for cats of any age.

Surgery and Bloodwork

We offer routine surgeries including feline and canine neutering and spaying, and feline declaw surgeries (front feet only). We also offer various other surgeries, based on an animal’s condition, from bladder stone surgeries to orthopedic restorative operations. Our patients are closely monitored throughout all surgeries and post-operative care. Both in-house and out-of-house bloodwork is available. We offer comprehensive general health, geriatric, kidney, and many other blood profiles. Blood can also be sent to an out-of-state laboratory for further diagnostic testing.

We also offer, and strongly encourage, microchipping. Although microchipping does not require the animal to be under general anesthesia, we offer a price cut when microchipping while your pet is being spayed or neutered. We microchip with Avid brand microchips.

X-Rays
Our clinic has a radiograph machine used in diagnostic testing of various feline and canine conditions. Radiographs, (x-rays), facilitate an enhanced evaluation by our veterinarians of existing systemic conditions present in their patients.
Parasite Prevention
Preventing parasites within your feline or canine companion is one of the most important, and easiest, preventive care measures you can take for your pet. This includes the prevention of internal parasites such as hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms, whipworms, and heartworms, and external parasites such as fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. We offer various products that work to eliminate these pests that put your pet’s health in jeopardy. We sell flea, tick, and mosquito prevention products such as Advantage, Frontline, Advantix, and Revolution. We also sell heartworm prevention in the form of Heartgard Plus, Interceptor, Tri-Heart and Revolution. Before the purchase of heartworm preventive for your dog we require a current negative heartworm test performed within the last year.
Dental Care

Oral exams, cleaning, adjustment, filing, extraction, or repair of your pets’ teeth and all other aspects of oral health care.

Oral health is critical to your pet’s well being and happiness. Dr. Williams and his staff have the training and experience to keep your pet in good dental health. Avondale Veterinary Hospital has the necessary equipment to ensure your pet’s comfort and safety.
